MoDOT Targets 2027 Start for Indian Creek Bridge Rehab

MoDOT officials are offering opportunities for public input regarding the rehabilitation project of the Route 76 bridge over Indian Creek. Individuals affected by the project may request a public meeting in the form of a written request by May 7.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is planning a rehabilitation project for the Route 76 bridge over Indian Creek in Douglas County, with construction potentially beginning as early as March 2027.

The bridge is located approximately 9.3 miles west of U.S. Route 60 near Willow Springs. Planned improvements include replacement of the bridge deck and girders, aimed at extending the structure’s lifespan and improving safety for motorists.

During construction, Route 76 will be closed in the immediate vicinity of the bridge for an estimated three months. A signed detour route will direct traffic along Route 181 North, Route AM, U.S. Route 60 and back to Route 76.

Project materials, including maps and plans, are available for public inspection at MoDOT’s regional office located at 3956 E. Main St. in Willow Springs.

MoDOT officials are also offering opportunities for public input. Residents who require language assistance are encouraged to contact Project Manager Jacob Capeder by May 4. Additionally, individuals affected by the project may request a public meeting by submitting a written request to District Engineer Donnie Brown in Sikeston by May 7.

Comments and questions regarding the project may be submitted through MoDOT’s website or by contacting the agency directly.
