Ava Police Department announces promotions, new officer

The Ava Police Department recently announced the promotion of two officers and welcomed a new officer to the department.

Jason Hoekema was promoted from corporal to sergeant,

while Joe Dering was promoted from officer to corporal. The department credited both officers for their hard work, dedication and service to the Ava community.

The department also welcomed Officer James Hinrichs, who was officially sworn in at Ava City Hall. Hinrichs is a graduate of the Drury University Police Academy.

Department officials said the promotions and hiring represent important milestones for the officers and expressed confidence that Sergeant Hoekema, Corporal Dering and Officer Hinrichs will continue serving Ava with professionalism, integrity and compassion.
