Health Department Alerts Residents to Dairy Recall

FDA recall includes select Great Value Cottage Cheese distributed in Missouri.

The Douglas County Health Department is notifying residents of a voluntary recall involving select Great Value cottage cheese products sold at Walmart stores in Missouri between Feb. 17 and Feb. 20, 2026.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Saputo Cheese USA Inc. recalled certain products after liquid dairy ingredients may not have been fully pasteurized to state standards. The issue was identified during equipment troubleshooting. No illnesses have been reported, but unpasteurized dairy products can pose health risks, particularly to young children, older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Affected products include 16-ounce, 24-ounce and 3-pound white plastic tubs of Great Value cottage cheese with “Best If Used By” dates of April 1, April 2 or April 3, 2026. The date is printed on the side of the lid for identification.

Consumers should not eat the product and may discard it or return it to Walmart for a full refund. No other products from the facility were impacted by the recall.
