Authorities Seize Meth, Firearms in Vera Cruz Search

Roger Wall
Douglas County authorities say a weeks‑long covert narcotics investigation led to the service of a search warrant at the residence of Roger Wall near Vera Cruz early February 3. The Douglas County/Ava Multijurisdictional Task Force and the COMET Drug Task Force executed the warrant around 6 a.m.
According to Sheriff Chris Degase, investigators seized methamphetamine along with several firearms. Missouri law prohibits possessing illegal narcotics and firearms simultaneously. Deputies also recovered an item previously used as evidence in a Coroner’s Inquest—an item purchased with county taxpayer funds. Sheriff Degase said the statute of limitations may prevent prosecution for its possession, but the item will be returned to Douglas County as its rightful owner.
