Mrs Johnson Summer School

Mrs. Wanda Johnson's summer school class watered, weeded, and picked vegetables at one of the gardens at Ava R-1. Myrna Stark from the University of Missouri Extension is placing straw down to help keep out the weeds. The Healthy Schools Healthy Communities grant provided funds to create this garden.

The Healthy Schools Healthy Communities grant provided funds for gardens at Ava R-1 school. Mrs. Rebecca Smith from the University of Missouri Extension helped students plant and care for the gardens and taught gardening classes. Mrs. Wanda Johnson’s summer school class helped care for the gardens at Ava R-1. These carrots were planted by preschool students in the spring.

Mrs. Wanda Johnson’s summer school class helped care for the gardens and even made this scarecrow to keep the birds away

Mrs. Wanda Johnson’s summer school class cared for the gardens at Ava R-1. The students were allowed to take home whatever produce they picked. The students picked basil, jalapenos, tomatoes, carrots, spinach, lettuce, kale, and squash. The Healthy Schools Healthy Communities grant provided funds for the gardens. The University of Missouri Extension provided plants and seeds.
