Early Morning Wreck Sends Teenager To Springfield Hospital

A 4 a.m. crash on Highway 5 north of Ava last Saturday morning resulted in injuries to an Ozark County teenager.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Michael D. Porter, 18, of Noble, was traveling south on Highway 5 in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that ran off the left side of the road, went airborne, struck several trees and overturned.

The wreck occurred five miles shouth of Mansfield in Douglas County.

Porter was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries. The driver was wearing a seatbelt according to the Troop G report.

The crash was investigated by Cpl. D.J. Johnson of the Highway Patrol.
