Last Wednesday night ended a successful high school basketball career of Ava High School senior Jacey Swofford.

The Ava Lady Bears closed out the 2015-16 basketball season in the semifinals of the district basketball tournament, but not before Swofford made her mark as a four-year letterman at Ava High School.

On Senior Night, when the Lady Bears hosted Willow Springs in the final home game of the season, Swofford scored her 1,000th career point when she sank two free throws in the second quarter.

For that accomplishment, Swofford was awarded the game ball.

This week, the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association released the Class 3 All-District teams, and Swofford is there, too, representing Ava.

Swofford averaged 15.6 points  and 7.1 rebounds per game. She shot 41 percent from the field, 36 percent from 3-point range, and 70 percent at the foul line.

Other members of the all-district girls’ team include Sarah Kelley, Houston, senior, center; Beth Sherbo, Willow Springs senior, guard; Piper Francis, Liberty, freshman, forward; Halie Allred, Hollister, senior, guard; Ashley Ingram, Licking, junior, forward; Abby Casper, Houston, junior guard; Lacey Moore, Forsyth, junior, guard; Maycee Lumley, Forsyth, junior, guard; and Dalrayn Feringa, Licking, sophomore, forward.
