Ava 7th & 8th Grade Lady Bears Are Busy On the Hardwood

The 7th and 8th grade Lady Bears won two games and lost two in the past two weeks.
The Lady Bears played Reeds Spring, Liberty, and Strafford before going into the break and then traveled to Willow Springs Tuesday night to start off the week.
Both Lady Bear teams won by a comfortable margin against the Lady Wolves of Reeds Spring.
The 7th grade won 42-17 with Eden Little leading all scorers with 18 points, followed by Claire Fossett with 14, Emaly Keyes 6, Quincy Kelly 2, and Megan Lakey 2.
The 8th grade Lady Bears won 42-25 with Ashton Bewley and Lauren Mendel scoring 10 each, Kiaunna Snow 8, Emily Frampton 6, Kenzie Lumley 3, Breanna Hill 3, and Emily Stillings 2.
The Lady Bears then fell to the Lady Liberty Eagles on the road. The 7th grade would lose 26-39 led by Fossett’s 10, Keyes 7, Lakey 6, and Little 3.  The 8th grade took on Liberty for the second time this season and suffered their second loss of the season once again to the Lady Eagles. Bewley led scorers with 8, Snow 5, Araina Evans 5, Frampton 4, Mendel 4, Lumley and Kate McDonald with 2 each.
The Lady Bears returned the next night at home facing the very tough Lady Indians of Strafford. The 7th grade lost 27-42. Leading scorers for Ava were Little 10, Fossett 9, Faith Lansdown 2, Keyes 2, Makayla Miller 2, and Serena Stewart 2. The 8th grade would take a tough loss of 14-45. Frampton had 6, Bewley 3, Hill and Mendel 2, and Lumley 1.
The Lady Bears started this week off with wins for both the 7th and 8th grade teams at Willow Springs on Tuesday night. The 7th grade made it interesting by trailing at halftime and then coming out with a 22 point 3rd quarter to lead 36 to 24 going into the 4th quarter.
However, the 4th quarter would begin the process of four of Ava’s top six fouling out by the end of the game. Willow Springs pushed back taking the game to overtime and then falling short to the Lady Bears 46-50. Little led scorers with 19, Fossett 8, Keyes 7, Lakey 6, Miller 4, Stewart 4, and Kelly 2.
The 8th grade would keep the game close and outscore Willow Springs 19-9 in the 4th quarter to take the 50-42 win. Bewley led with 17 and 15 of those coming in the second half, Frampton 11, Mendel 10, Evans 4, Hill 4, Snow 2, and Lumley 2. The Lady Bears will travel to Mtn. Grove on Thursday night and Cabool on Monday.
