Woman Seriously Hurt When Run Over by Truck

A Norwood woman was airlifted to a Springfield hospital on Jan. 13 after she was run over by the truck she had just exited.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Lisa J. Volner, 44, was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries following the 9:05 p.m. incident that occurred on private property in rural Norwood, in Douglas County.
Tpr. Justin Piccinino reported that the 1999 Dodge Ram truck was being driven by Clarence E. Napier, 59, of Mtn. Grove.
The Troop G report states that the vehicle was departing a residence and that Volner had just gotten out of the truck, lost her footing and slid under the right rear tire of the vehicle. The truck traveled over the right side of the victim then stopped, and the driver rendered aid to the victim until an ambulance arrived.
A Dora woman was seriously injured in an early morning crash Wednesday in eastern Douglas County.
The Highway Patrol said Taylor D. Watkins, 19, was a passenger in a 2011 Kia Sorento that failed to negotiate a curve and ran off Highway 76, 30 miles east of Ava.
Sgt. Charley Hogue, who investigated the wreck, said the car was driven by Zacharia P. Watson, 19, of Dora. The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, overturned several times, and came to rest on its wheels, according to Troop G.
Taylor Watkins was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Another passenger in the car, Nacona Watkins, 18, of West Plains, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
