More Post-Season Honors For Ava Football Bears

More football honors were handed out this week for the 2013 season, and Ava athletes received well-deserved recognition.

Junior lineman Tristan Haltom was named all-state offensive line by the Missouri Football Coaches Association and was named first team all-state lineman on both offense and defense on the all-area team by the Southwest Missouri Football Coaches Association.

The Missouri Football Coaches Association also named Haltom all-district on both offense and defense.

Last week it was announced that the 6’4″, 290-pound Haltom was also named second team all-state offensive lineman on the Media All-State team in Class 3 football.

Bears making the All-District team selected by the Missouri Football Coaches Association include Aaron Box, defensive line; Nate Bray, linebacker; Derrick Bushong, offensive line; Buster Davis, linebacker; Jesse Dean, linebacker; Austin Giorgianni, offensive line; Tristan Haltom, offensive and defensive line; Cody Huff, quarterback; John Luebbering, tight end; Morgan Smith, runningback and defensive back; Kane Thompson, runningback; Brett Vinson, defensive line and runningback; and Larry Walker, defensive line.

The Southwest Missouri Football Coaches Association named first team, second team and honorable mention All-Area teams. Ava players honored on that list include:

First Team: Tristan Haltom, offensive line; Tristan Haltom, defensive line; and Buster Davis, linebacker.

Second Team: Kane Thompson, defensive back.
