Lions Club & MOCH Deliver Essential Care at Eye Mission & Health Screening Event

Volunteers and workers with the Ava Lions Club, Missouri Ozarks Community Health Center and other area Lions Clubs helped serve residents during this year’s Eye Mission & Health Screening Event. The annual outreach provided free vision checks, basic health screenings and follow up resources, serving 55 people with the help of 18 volunteers.
The Ava Lions Club and Missouri Ozarks Community Health Center (MOCH) partnered once again to provide free vision checks and basic health screenings to residents during this year’s Eye Mission & Health Screening Event. The annual outreach effort continues to serve as an important resource for families who may struggle to access routine medical care.
Volunteers from other Lions Clubs, the MOCH and Ava Lions Club members worked together to offer vision screenings, identify potential eye-care needs, and connect individuals with follow-up services when necessary. MOCH nurses provide blood pressure checks, diabetes testing, and general wellness assessments, helping participants detect early signs of preventable health issues.
Organizers emphasized that the mission’s purpose is simple: ensure every resident—regardless of age, income or insurance status—has access to essential health information. Many attendees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive care close to home, especially those who had gone years without a checkup.
The Ava Lions Club and MOCH credited strong community support and dedicated volunteers for making the event possible. Both organizations plan to continue expanding the mission to reach even more families in the coming year. This year’s event saw 55 people served by 18 volunteers. Volunteers were served a free lunch by the Ava Lions Club.
