The first-ever Trail of Treats at Ava City Park proved to be a sweet success, drawing an overwhelming crowd for the Halloween-themed community event.
Organizer Sherry Huffman-Wallace shared her gratitude following the event, noting how proud she was of the turnout and the community’s spirit.
“Trail of Treats was a blast and definitely an overwhelming great turnout,” Huffman-Wallace said. “First off, thank you to Kirk Pueppke for being so pro-Parks, for loving this community, and for allowing me to be creative and run with this event. Christina and Sten Wiedmeier, your decorating skills are over the top! Thank you to all the City of Ava maintenance and other employees who helped out, including Drake Henry, and to the two NHS gals who volunteered.”
Huffman-Wallace also thanked Bill Henry for his encouragement and kind words, and extended appreciation to everyone who donated candy or hosted a booth.
“Whether you were an individual family, a business, or a church, you were a vital part of this being such a success,” she said. “This one probably goes down as one of my most favorite memories of working for the City of Ava. I am so proud to be a part of this great community.”
Community members echoed that sentiment online, praising the event’s organization and festive atmosphere.
One attendee commented, “I love this so much. You’ve had this idea and vision for 15-plus years, and I’m so glad it was finally able to happen! You were meant for this event, and I am so proud. Here’s to many more years of Trail of Treats!”
Another visitor added, “My daughter loved it! From an organizational standpoint, I would’ve never known this was the first time you guys did this. I thought it was very well organized and went smoothly.”
With a strong debut and overwhelming support, many are already looking forward to seeing Trail of Treats become an annual Ava tradition.
