‘Understanding Your Forage Lab Report’ Workshop Planned

Specialists with the University of Missouri Extension will present a three-session workshop in October to help you better understand your forage lab report.
Sarah Kenyon, Extension agronomist; Ted Probert, Extension dairy specialist; and Randy Wiedmeier, livestock specialist, will conduct the workshop at the Douglas County Extension Office in the courthouse.
Sessions will be presented Oct. 5, Oct. 10 and Oct. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The cost of the workshop is $30 per farm for all three sessions.

Registration and payment for the workshop should be made by 4 p.m. Oct. 2.
During the sessions you will learn:
• Survey of the Proximate Analysis System
• What the numbers on your lab forage report mean
• Proper forage sampling techniques and procedures
• Review of nutrients important in farm animal nutrition
• Review of nutrient requirements of farm animals
• Diet balancing procedures using laboratory forage analysis reports.
