William “Bill” Hicks

William Hicks, 89 years, 7 months, 10 days old, passed away on June 12, 2017 at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava. Bill was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Mansfield, Mo., to Earl and Irene (Craig) Hicks. On June 3, 1960, Bill and Doris Jeanette McKnight were united in marriage at Miami, Okla. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended SMS College and majored in art. He was a multi-talented artist and sculpturer. Bill was good with his hands and could create or repair anything. Bill’s passion was golf and he played the game his entire life. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Doris, in 2010. Bill is survived by his three children, Marc Hicks, Belle Vista, Ark., Kent Hicks, Ava, Mo., and Leslie Vermilio and husband, Randy, Deltona, Fla.; three grandsons, David, Jeremy and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Jacob; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial graveside services for Bill will be Friday, June 16, 2017 at 12 p.m. in the Ava Cemetery, Ava, Mo. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.
