In preparation for the start of the 2016-17 school year, Ava R-1, Skyline R-2 and Plainview R-8 schools of Douglas County have announced dates for pre-enrollment of new students in the district.
This pre-enrollment is for new and transfer students in the respective school districts.
Pre-enrollment for new and transfer students in Ava R-1 Public Schools will also be held on Aug. 8 and 9. This enrollment is for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
Enrollment will be conducted at the Ava Performing Arts Center, 702 N. Jefferson, next to the high school.
Personnel will be available from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1-3 p.m.
There will be representatives from each building present, as well as a school nurse who can verify records.
To enroll their student, parents should bring a birth certificate, current immunization records, Social Security card (optional), proof of residence such as a utility bill, property tax receipt, etc., and previous school records or last grade card if available.
If you have questions about your child’s enrollment at Ava R-1 Schools call the administration office at 417-683-4717.
Skyline R-2 School will be enrolling new students Aug. 8 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Any students in the district who were not enrolled at Skyline in May 2016 are asked to come to the school during the specified dates to enroll. The school will need the student’s birth certificate, Social Security number and shot records, as well as proof of residency.
The school will also be accepting preschool enrollments at that time. Students must be 3 or 4 years old by Aug. 1 to qualify. Students are not permitted to ride the bus until they turn 4.
The school district also has a new Parents as Teachers coordinator who would love to talk to you and sign you up to participate in that program. She will be having group meetings and many fun things to help your child reach his potential. She is looking for children from birth up to 5 years of age.
Please call Skyline School at 683-4874 for more information or to enroll for the 2016/2017 school year.
New student enrollment at Plainview will be Tuesday, Aug. 9, and Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Like with other schools, items needed for enrollment will include the student’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency, such as a rental contract or utility bill.
