Douglas County Fair To Host Saturday Events

On Saturday, May 24, the Douglas County Fair board is hosting several events at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in conjunction with Ava Summer Fest activities. They are:

– parts swap meet starts at 10 a.m.;

– in the afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. Roadrunners are hosting a Classic Car Cruise-In; and

– Saturday evening, beginning at 6 p.m., a Car Demolition Derby. First place takes $1000, and the first three places receive gift certificates. Gate prices are: ages 12 and up, $5; children age 3-11, $3; age 2 and under, free.

In July, during the fair, the board is planning many events for daytime enjoyment, as well as the annual nighttime entertainment. Plans include school pride night and a truck demolition derby. The fair also includes livestock shows, a petting zoo and other fun exhibitors.

The Douglas County Fair board will meet on Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The meetings are open to the public, and the board welcomes your attendance and participation.
