Marie R. Dickey, 93

Marie Rama Dickey, 93 years, 2 months, and 28 days old, passed away on Jan. 14, 2014, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo.
Marie was born Oct. 17, 1920 in Ozark County, Mo., to Fate and Sarah Jane (Delp) Herd.
Marie was a resident of the Ava community for several years since 1987 moving from Verdi, Nev. On  Aug. 14, 1965, Marie and Ralph Dickey were united in marriage in Palo Alto, Calif. She had worked for many years in the restaurant business. Marie retired as a floor manager for Wells Electric Co. in Reno, Nev.
She was a Christian and a member of the Ava General Baptist Church and a life time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ava Chapter #47 and dual member with Order of the Eastern Star, Mansfield Chapter #76. She had originally transferred her membership from California to the Ava Chapter #47. She had served with Order of the Eastern for 57 years! Marie had also served as Worthy Matron more than once and each Star Point.
Marie enjoyed people and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and hosting. She also loved gardening and traveling. She was dedicated and put her heart into everything she was involved with.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donna Boyes; her husband, Ralph; and one brother, Troy Herd.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Wanda Huffman and husband, Bill, Ava, Mo., and Janice Waits and husband, Rod, Sunnyvale,  Calif.; a sister-in-law, Imogene Herd, Ava, Mo.; three grandchildren, Elaine and Larry Graham, Ava, Mo., Michelle and John Lorang, San Jose, Calif., and Travis and Jamie Waits, Castle Rock, Colo.; five great-grandchildren, Rita and Curtis King, Ava, Riley Lorang, San Jose, Calif., Caleb, Joel, Alysabeth Waits, all of Castle Rock, Colo.; two  great-great-grandchildren, Jayce Atchison and Vayda King, of Ava; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Marie will be Friday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with Order of the Eastern Star services by Ava Chapter #47. Burial will follow in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, Mo.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor  Oren Alcorn and Pastor Robert Roberts. Memorials may be made to Order of the Eastern Star, Ava Chapter #47 or Neighbor Helping Neighbor.
