Poker Run Includes Ava Airport

Ava’s Bill Martin Memorial Airport was one of nine area airports visited last Saturday for the MPA Poker run. These girls are members of the Ava 4-H Club, standing with the plane of Mike and Sharon Vaughn, of Mtn. View. Twelve airplanes participated in the poker run, some visiting all the airports listed, including Ava, Mansfield, Mountain Grove, Cabool, Houston, Willow Springs, West Plains, Thayer and Mountain View.  The club members ended at Mountain View with a potluck dinner and prizes.  Floyd Deidiker, West Plains, won the best hand.  Shirley Hanmore, the worst hand. Numerous prizes were awarded for high or low card at each airport, including a flight bag and an airplane polishing kit form Ava.  Mike Vaughn won the flight bag for high card at Ava.  Pilots could visit airports of their choice, and several  airplanes visited all nine airports.  They included Floyd Deidiker, Mike and Sharon Vaughn, and Pat Storm.
