Ira Lavon Davis, 68
Ira Lavon Davis passed away on Jan. 24, 2013, at San Antonio Hospital in Upland, Calif, after a long illness.
Ira was born Sept. 19, 1944, in Douglas County to Ira P. Davis and Bernice (Burton) Davis. After graduating from Ava High School in 1962 he lived in LaPuente, Calif., where he met and married Judy Carpenter on March 6, 1965. They had two children.
He came back to Ava in the late 1970s and was employed by Emerson Electric. He dearly loved his family and his friends. He enjoyed watching sports, Fox News and old westerns. He was a kind and loving father, son and brother, and will be sorely missed.
He was disabled and homebound for the last few years and since April of last year was cared for by his daughter in Alta Loma, Calif.
He is survived by his daughter Tamara Sabicer and husband, Kelly, and his son, Mark Davis, both of California; mother Bernice Steele, brother, Kenneth Steele, sister Sue Melton, Aunt Mrs. Ivan (Dessie) Buchanan, all of Ava; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Davis, of Leavenworth, Kan., and sister, Sandra Stacy, of Ava.
A memorial service was held in Alta Loma, Calif., on Sunday, Feb. 3. A second memorial service will be held here at a later date with burial in Ava Cemetery.
