Lindberg LeonaLeona “Charlie” A. Lindberg, 68 years, passed away on Dec. 30, 2012 at her home from a sudden illness.
Leona “Charlie” was born Feb. 23, 1944 in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Stephen and Lucille (Sara) Ferro.
“Charlie” was a resident of the Ava community for many years moving from Alaska and formerly of Cheyenne, Wyo. She was a retired engineer with a phone company in Alaska where she had worked for several years.
In 1979 “Charlie” and Fred Lindberg were united in marriage in Anchorage, Alaska.
“Charlie” was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Ava.
She loved being in the outdoors and worked with her husband, Fred on the farm in Ava.
She enjoyed going to garage sales, auctions, fishing and even hunting.
She was also a member of the local quilting club in Ava.
Leona “Charlie” was preceded by her father, Stephen Ferro, her aunt, Lena “Titse” Sara and her grandparents.
Leona”Charlie” is survived by her husband, Fred Lindberg, Ava, Mo.; her mother, Lucille Theresa Ferro, Ava, Mo.; one sister, Angela Sullivan, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one brother, Bennie Ferro, of Virginia; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rosary and visitation services for Leona “Charlie” were Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with Father Paul Wightman officiating.  A Funeral Mass will be Monday, Jan.7, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne, Wyo., and burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyo. Services in Cheyenne are being conducted by Schrader Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
