Ozarks Genealogical Society’s 32nd Annual Conference Sept. 14-15

SPRINGFIELD – The Ozarks Genealogical Society will have its 32nd annual conference, “Researching the Midwest and Beyond,” Sept. 14-15 at the Howard Johnson Hotel, 3333 S. Glenstone Ave. in Springfield.

Paula Stuart-Warren, CG, FMGS, FUGA, nationally known genealogical researcher and educator, will be the featured speaker.  With a focus on the Midwest her lectures will include: “Major Midwest Archives and Their Records,” “New Englanders in the Midwest: Key Resources,” “A World of Records: Using the Family History Library and Family History Centers,” and “Where are Those Records They Told Me to Check.”

The conference begins the evening of Sept. 14 and continues Sept. 15.  In addition to sessions presented by Paula Stuart-Warren, there will be mini-sessions on a variety of genealogical topics for guiding beginners and seasoned researchers in their quest for knowledge.  Topics include “Beginning Genealogy,” “Footprints in Time(lines),” “Read Between the Lines,” and “Google and Your Genealogy.” Registration includes lunch and a vendor area.

The conference is open to the public.  Full conference registration is $50. Attendance to the Friday only session is $25.

The Ozarks Genealogical Society, Inc. (OGS) was formally organized in September 1969 by a group of individuals brought together by their common interest in researching family history. OGS was chartered in 1979 as a not-for-profit organization in the State of Missouri. The goals of the society are to encourage the research and preservation of family history, foster solid genealogical research practices, and preserve records of historical and genealogical interest.  The local research library is at 534 W.
