Bond Modified For Ava Doctor Charged With Domestic Assault

Martin Sevrey, 70, of Ava, was back in court Monday, requesting a modification in the bond that has kept him locked up since his arrest on April 27.

Associate Circuit Judge Craig Carter let Sevrey’s attorney Chris Swatosh and Prosecuting Attorney Roger Wall work out a compromise that was agreeable to both clients, then announced that the doctor’s bond would be modified.

Sevrey had been held on a $100,000 cash only bond since his arrest, but on Monday the court modified the conditions to accept 10 percent cash, on the condition that Sevrey wear a GPS ankle bracelet and remain under house arrest, with certain other stipulations.

Sevrey’s victim wife, still showing obvious facial bruising, was present for the hearing on Monday and was consulted by Wall as he agreed to the bond modification.
