Peace Poster Winners Announced

Peace Poster winners announced: Lions International Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Lions Club of Ava recognized contest winners from 26 participants from teacher Mindy Pinckney’s middle school art class. The winners were: First Place: Riley Turner; Second Place: Caden Roberts (certificate); Third Place: Miley Ludwig (certificate). First-place winner Riley Turner received a certificate and art kit. Riley’s entry will advance to district judging.

Peace Poster winners announced: Lions International Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Lions Club of Ava recognized contest winners from 26 participants from teacher Mindy Pinckney’s middle school art class. Lions International Peace Poster Contest encourages children, ages 11 to 13, to creatively express what peace means to them. The 2023-2024 contest theme is, “Dare to Dream.” The contest allows students to share their unique images of peace with others, so that we may create tolerance and international understanding. At the local level, contest winners are recognized by the local Lions Club. Poster artists advancing to the final international judging are recognized as follows: International grand prize winner receives a trip to an award ceremony where he/she will receive 5,000 dollars and an award. Two family members are invited to accompany the winner to the ceremony.
Twenty-three merit award winners each receive 500 dollars and a certificate of achievement. The award ceremony was held in the Middle School art room with Lions’ Rosalie Watts, District and State Peace Poster chairperson, and Glenda Little and David Norman from the Ava lions Club in attendance.
The winners were: First Place: Riley Turner; Second Place: Caden Roberts (certificate); Third Place: Miley Ludwig (certificate).
First Place winner Riley Turner received a certificate and art kit. Riley’s entry will advance to district judging.
