Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor: I am seeing an ad on the local T.V. stations about Amendment 3 that is very deceiving. Amendment 3 has a few items on it, but the most controversial is that 2 years ago a change in drawing the state voting districts was delegated to ONE PERSON (the state demographer). A “YES” vote on Amendment 3 would put it back in the hands of several bipartisan commissioners (from both parties) to draw the district maps. A “YES” vote would keep our district from being included in a partitioned off St. Louis suburb district. Our local representation at this point is threatened unless we vote this amendment in. We need to return to a group of commissioners that draw the district lines. Allowing this one person to have such political power in drawing the districts is dangerous.
