March 26, 2020 – Purple Day Proclamation

Purple Day is an annual global awareness day for epilepsy. Epilepsy affects nearly three million people in the United States, 300,000 people in Canada, and over 65 million people worldwide. Epilepsy is the third most common neurological disorder after Alzheimer’s and stroke. Burrley Loftin, Mayor of Ava, proclaimed March 26, 2020 as “Purple Day” in the City of Ava.
