VFW Awards

Ava VFW Post 5993 recently presented a number of awards to local teachers and students. In the photo (left to right): Gail Huffman, VFW Auxiliary President; Jarom Wilber - Voice of Democracy 2nd Place winner; Grace Key - Voice of Democracy 1st Place Winner; and Joshua Swainston, VFW Post 5993 Commander. Other VFW Awards include Sarah Sacco - Ava HS Band Director, won the local, district, and state VFW Smart/Maher VFW teacher of the Year Award; Annette Copeland - Ava fourth grade teacher won VFW/District 18 Elementary School Teacher of the Year; Brianna Williams won 1st Place Patriot’s Pen; Grace Humbyrd won 2nd Place Patriot’s Pen; Jorni Holm won 3rd Place Patriot’s Pen; and Jaden Plake won 3rd Place in the Voice of Democracy contest.
