Urban Homesteading Workshop in Springfield Oct. 12

SPRINGFIELD, Mo – Greene County MU Extension is hosting a new program focused on urban homesteading from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 12 at the Springfield Botanical Gardens, 2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield.

The 2018 “Urban Homesteading Workshop” with feature three separate speakers this year.

“Backyard Chickens” will be presented by Patrick Byers, a field specialist in horticulture with University of Missouri Extension who has years of experience with backyard chickens.

Leslie Million, owner of Terrell Creek Farms, will present a session on “Cheese Making.” Million is well known for her award-winning cheeses and can be found at several stores and markets in both the Springfield and Joplin areas.

“Solar Power for the Homeowner” will be presented by Jeff Barber, field specialist in housing and urban design with MU Extension.

The workshop costs $15 per person and seating is limited. Pre-registration is needed by Oct. 10 to prepare handouts and refreshments.
