Academic Students of the Month

Hunter Drenske and Jasmine Nelson, left and right respectively, are the Ava R-I Academic Students of the Month for September.

Ava R-I High School has selected Jasmine Nelson and Hunter Drenske as Academic Students of the Month for September.  

A senior at Ava High School, Jasmine is an active member of several clubs and organizations.  Her activities include band, Art Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, FCCLA, FCA, Anchor Club, Tri-M and drama club.  

As a band member, Jasmine also auditioned for a marching position as a member of the special Macy’s Parade marching band and was accepted.  She  will be a part of the band that performs on television during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  

Jasmine plans to attend Missouri State University where she has already been accepted.  Her goal is to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Drama and Speech Education, and teach at a high school level.  

Jasmine is the daughter of Gary and Kellie Nelson, of Ava. 

Hunter is a senior at Ava High School who is involved in the Ava Pride Band, Student Council, FFA, National Honor Society and Tri-M.  

Hunter serves as a volunteer at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare where he has the opportunity to help those in need.  He also enjoys special community projects.  

After high school, Hunter plans to attend college.  His interests include the fields of psychology, history, and criminal justice. 

Hunter is the son of Tamara Drenske, of Ava.
