Thursday, August 23, James Brooks, of Ava, escaped uninjured when his vehicle, traveling westbound on Highway 14 4.3 miles east of Ava, failed to negotiate a curve, crossed over the centerline, ran off the roadway and landed in a creek bed pointed the opposite direction. Officers from the Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Office responded with Ava Rural Fire Dept. and Jim’s Body Shop assisting with traffic control and cleanup.
