Newborns in Need “Sleepers in September” Program Now Underway

The Southwest Missouri chapter of Newborns in Need is stepping up once again to host the annual “Sleepers in September” drive, a national effort to bring warmth and comfort to babies this winter.

According to organizers, every time a warm sleeper or sleep sac is provided to ensure little ones stay warm, it is symbolic of wrapping our arms around them and snuggling them close.

The public can help by collecting new, gently-used, and handmade sleepers, in sizes NB-18 months. Pajamas, gowns, sleep sacs, or any kind of sleeper is welcome.  Helping to keep babies warm this winter, fills a real need in the community.

Please help the little ones by bringing your donation to the Douglas County Health Department, 603 Springfield Road, Ava, Mo.  Items may be dropped off between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Each sleeper collected will be given to a local baby or toddler in need.

Newborns in Need is a nonprofit organization that distributes essential items such as diapers, clothing, blankets, bottles, toiletries, pacifiers, small toys and other items free-of-charge to babies of low-income families and babies in poor health or born prematurely.

All donations stay in our local community.
