Drought Survival Meeting Held in Ava

University of Missouri Extension specialists held an informational meeting on Monday, August 27 at the Douglas County Livestock Auction, south of Ava. Eric Bailey, state beef nutritionist, and Sarah Kenyon, argronomy specialist, facilitated the session, as discussions covered fall forage alternatives, assessing the price of forages, supplementing low-quality hay, and precautions with nitrates and prussic acid. Approximately 15 people attended the meeting. Additional drought survival meetings are scheduled for the College of the Ozarks Plaster Business Auditorium, on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 10 a.m., and later that day, at the Freewill Baptist Church, 5658 State Hwy. Z, in Hartville, Mo.
