The 11th annual TriCounty Youth Horse Show is this Saturday, August 11, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Ava Saddle Club, west of Ava, on Hwy. 14. Local folks are urged to support area youths participating in the event, as admission is free and open to the public.
A silent auction with specialty items and gifts is available for anyone interested in participating, and food concessions are on site as well.
Organizers are celebrating 11-years of working with youths and providing a horsemanship venue for young enthusiasts. The show is also an opportunity to promote the youth in our area and recognize the skills and accomplishments of young riders who compete in the arena.
The event showcases a young rider’s talent in the gaited, stock and gaming/speed divisions. The fee is $3 per class, with entrants limited to ages 18 and younger.
Twenty-nine class categories are available. Riding participants will be eligible for prizes that include ribbons, cash, horse supplies, as well as saddles for the top winners. The first ten places will receive ribbons, with the first five earning a cash prize.
If participation in a class level is low, divisions may be combined.
For those interested in participating, proper riding attire and proof of a negative Coggins test is required. No stallions are allowed, but mules are welcome.
