Ava Art Guild Quilt Show and Pastel Workshop

The Ava Art Guild will have a busy month with a Quilt Show and Soft Pastel workshop.  But these activities are inside with air conditioning so it is a good way to spend some time.  Come and browse the quilt show to see some beautiful quilts made by local artists.

Always wanted to try soft pastels?  This is your chance to learn with an experienced instructor and all supplies provided.

Pastel Workshop

The August workshop should be  great! Donna Howard an award winning pastel artist will be leading attendees in painting with soft pastels.

“Soft pastel media can be subdivided as follows: Soft pastels: This is the most widely used form of pastel. The sticks have a higher portion of pigment and less binder, resulting in brighter colors. The drawing can be readily smudged and blended, but it results in a higher proportion of dust.” (Wikipedia)

They are a fun and interesting (and messy) way to paint. They are much like chalk.

The Workshop will be held on Aug. 11  at the Ava Art Guild and Gallery, 303 E Washington Ave.with social time at 1 pm and a light lunch, business meeting at 1:30 and workshop at 2 pm. Everyone welcome and all supplies are provided.
