7th & 8th Football Bears Win Two Over Bulldogs

The Ava Middle School Bears traveled to Cabool on Sept. 7 and returned home with two gridiron victories.
Ava’s seventh grade squad defeated the Bulldogs 18-0.
Josh Springer put the Bears on the scoreboard with a 26-yard touchdown run with 2:12 remaining in the first half. Springer followed that with a 66-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half.
The Bears would close out the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run by Wyatt Johnson in the fourth quarter.
The eighth grade Bears defeated the Bulldogs 20-0.
Ava scored on their first possession of the game; the four play drive covered 49 yards.
Spencer Skyles ran the final 10 yards for the score. Zach Richards passed to Corey Heinlein for the 2-point conversion.
A fumble recovery by Ava’s Brady Tetrick in Cabool territory set up another score for the Bears. Richards connected again with Heinlein for a 35-yard passing touchdown with 4:25 remaining in the half.
Skyles intercepted a Cabool pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.
