City’s Closed Session Meeting August 22

Last week Mayor David Norman and aldermen held a closed session meeting to address a personnel issue. However, following the meeting, officials invoked a Sunshine Law rule which allows a 72-hour delay before disciplinary actions or promotions are made public.
According to Mayor Norman, the closed session lasted at least an hour, with council authorizing the mayor to take action. The action resulted in the dismissal of Jennifer Lakey, billing specialist for City of Ava utilities.
