Ora Siler Schmitt

Ora Siler Schmitt, 94, of Beaufort, S.C., died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 at her home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1923 near Brownbranch, Douglas County, Mo., to Jesse W. and Eulah (Taber) Siler. She graduated from Ava, Mo. High School in 1939 and retired from the US Department of State in Washington, DC after 33 years service. She was a charter member of the Sandy Church, near Ava, Mo.
In October 1947 she married Harold J. Monahan, Jr. and to this union one son was born. In November 1976 she married George H. Schmitt. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and brothers, Claude, Ralph, Billie, and Bob Siler.
She is survived by her son, Michael H. Monahan and his wife, Ann, of Beaufort, SC; two grandchildren, Patrick B. Monahan and wife, Tricia, of Pennsylvania, and Melinda Monahan Henrickson and husband, Sean, of Beaufort, S.C.; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, and Mae Henrickson, and Annabelle, Suzanna, and Corbin Monahan, and their mother, Melanie; two stepdaughters, Charlene Lucken, of Northfield, Minn., and Joyce Davison, of Maryville, Mo.; and their families.
Services for Ora were held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo., with burial following in the Sherrodd Cemetery in Taney County. Visitation was Saturday, from 1 p.m. to service time, in the funeral home. Officiating were the Rev. Sue Clayton and Pastor Neal Crum.
