Longterm Disaster Recovery Team Will Meet Today

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Ava/Douglas County EMA will meet today (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m. to discuss and organize a local longterm disaster recovery committee.
The Douglas County Health Department is also a co-sponsor of this organization effort.
The meeting will be held at the EMA office on Lincoln Ave., just east of the Sheriff’s Office.
Mike Peckerel, volunteer agency liaison with FEMA, emphasizes this meeting is not for people seeking assistance, but is rather for individuals and organization that may be able to provide assistance. This may include local organizations with national affiliations such as Lions Clubs and Kiwanis Clubs, as well as churches with disaster or outreach groups or organizations that can step in and provide financial assistance and/or physical labor.
If you are involved with an organization that may have resources to offer, or if you are interested in serving with an action committee, you are invited to attend the meeting next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the EMA Office in Ava.
