40-Degree Temperature Range In July

The month of July saw temperatures ranging from a high of 102 on July 22 to a low reading of 59.5 (60 officially) on July 30.
From July 16 through July 26, Ava saw 11 straight days with highs above 95 degrees. Fifteen of 18 days, July 7 through 26, were above 95 degrees.
An unusual August cool snap kicked in last Saturday and the area has enjoyed several days of almost fall-like weather during the past week.
Rainfall for the month of July was pretty typical, with only 3.43 inches of precipitation recorded. The most significant rainfall of the month came on July 4 when 1.18 inches was collected in Billy Long’s rain gauge. Long reports for the Community Weather Involvement Program.
