Rocky Valentine Named Superintendent Of Sparta R-3 Schools

The Sparta School Board announced this week that Rocky Valentine has been selected to fill the position of superintendent of schools at Sparta for the 2017-18 school year. Valentine, a native of Ava and graduate of Ava High School, has served the Sparta District as teacher and principal for the past seven years. In a press release following the July 13 board meeting, board president Keith Roller stated, ”Mr. valentine has a passion to see our students and faculty succeed at the highest level. With his positive attitude and energy we are excited to see the direction he leads the Sparta School District.” Valentine said, “I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to guide the Sparta R-3 School District as the superintendent of schools. Throughout my tenure at Sparta I have enjoyed working alongside the many great educators and staff members in this district. I am eager to begin my duties as the new superintendent, and I look forward to serving the students, staff, and community of Sparta.” Rocky Valentine is the son of Monty and Kathy Valentine, of Ava. He and his wife, Breanna (Grier) have two daughters, Lyla, 5, and Lily, 2. He is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University and is currently completing his doctorate degree. Valentine succeeds Jeff Hyatt who assumed the superintendency at Gainesville on July 1.
