Missouri Fox Trotters Name New Futurity Champions Saturday Night Vance Vahle Rides to Fourth Straight Title

The 3-year-olds were featured at the Spring Show last week of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association with the 3-Year-Old Futurity being the focus of the four-night event that got under way Wednesday. The concluding show was held Saturday night with Futurity champions named in three categories of judging – Open Amateur, Amateur Owned & Trained, and the Open Futurity class. Claiming the title of 2017 Futurity Champion was Oh Yeah, shown by Vance Vahle, of Bolivar, and owned by Adam Jokisch, of Freeburg, Ill. This is the fourth straight year that Vahle has ridden the Futurity Champion in the Spring Show. Jokisch has been the owner of the 3-Year-Old Futurity Champion in three of the past four years. Vahle and Oh Yeah also placed first in the qualifying Futurity Stallions and Geldings class on Thursday night. Reserve champion of the Open Futurity on Saturday night was Urban Legend, shown by Randy Williams for Bill Roberts and Kathleen Roberts, of Green Forest, Ark. Urban Legend advanced from a fifth place finish in the qualifying Stallions & Geldings class on Thursday. Champion in the Amateur Owned & Trained Futurity on Saturday night was She’s Country A., shown by Brent Abbott, for William Abbott and Brent Abbott, both of London, Ark. Reserve champion in the Amateur Owned & Trained category was Sun-Ray’s Desiray, shown by Buddy Landon, for Buddy Landon and Cathy Landon, Lebanon, Mo. Champion of the 3-Year-Old Open Amateur Futurity on Saturday was Party Central, shown by Jarrod Freeman for Darrell Lindsay and Ricky Brown, both of Lebanon. Reserve champion in the open amateur class was Wish’s Country Lady, shown by Alisha Wood, of Yellville, Ark., and owned by If Wishes Were Horses LLC, Beech Grove, Ark., and Alisha Wood. Prior to the Futurity championship classes on Saturday night, championship classes were held for youth, out of state exhibitors, open amateur classes, and an amateur owned specialty class for horses 5 years and older.
