GEM Award to Ava Police Department

The Ava Police Department was presented a Chamber of Commerce GEM Award at the monthly luncheon meeting Tuesday. The award was presented for the month of May when the Business Appreciation Cookout was held on the square and no formal meeting was held. Accepting the award on behalf of the Police Department is Chief Reggie Johnson. The GEM (Generating Enriching Memories) Award is presented to nonprofit organizations that make a difference in our community. Presenting the award is Darlene Sorensen with the CofC Economic Development Committee.

Tonya Cutbirth, administrator of Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, was speaker at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting on Tuesday. In addition to sharing information about Heart of the Ozarks, Mrs. Cutbirth also reported on the big 4th of July Celebration that will be held on Friday night, June 30. This is the 32nd annual event of the celebration which has become the highlight of the season for the Ava area.
