Gladys Gardner

Gladys Rose Gardner, 96, was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017. She was born on Friday, April 2, 1920 in Grabeel, Mo., to Edna Lois Smith and Rev. Robert E. Herd.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Waid; one brother and one sister.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sue Strain, Janet Deffenderfer (husband Ron), and Judy Berka (husband Leonard); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and many friends.

A visitation and funeral were held on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Brentwood Christian Church, Springfield. Burial was held at 3 p.m. Monday at Souder Cemetery with a short service conducted by E.J. Hampton.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Souder Cemetery.

Gladys and Waid were residents of Souder where he had served as postmaster.
