Ricky James Jones, 63 years, 1 month and 27 days old, passed away on Oct. 1, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, surrounded by all his family, after suffering an illness from a tick bite.
Rick was born Aug. 4, 1953, to Ray and Retha Jones, at their home in Foil, Mo.
Rick enjoyed spending time outside hunting, fishing, having cookouts and family get-togethers. He enjoyed cooking, grilling and making homemade ice cream for his family and friends. He said that being outside was his church. His family and friends were very important to him and he never met a stranger.
Rick was preceded in death by both parents, Ray and Retha Jones.
Rick is survived by his wife, Kathy, of 23 years; three children: Rick and wife, Arlana Jones, of Lansing, Kan., Tommy Jones and fianceé Natasha, of Ash Grove, Mo., and Christina Anderson and husband, Troy, of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepchildren, Doug Collins and wife, Amy, of Springdale, Ark., and Tyler Collins and wife, Candace, of Rolla, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends; nine siblings and spouses: Gene and Theresa Jones, Eileen Anderson, Dean and Donna Jones, Pat and Ruben Madril, Jerry and Mary Jones, Verl and Mitzi Jones, Judy and Jerry Spurlock, Cheryl and George Lansdown, and Rhonda and Rodney Yost; and three furbabies: Jada, Tank and Lily.
There are no services planned at this time until the spreading of his ashes at Rick’s request.
Cremation services were conducted at Springfield Mortuary in Springfield, Mo. Memorials can be made to the Thornfield Cemetery in Thornfield, Mo.
