Ava Middle School Football Camp Begins Aug. 1

Ava Middle School will be hosting a football camp for students that will be in the 7th or 8th grade at Ava Middle School during the upcoming school year.
Coach Jeff Pool says the camp begins on Monday, Aug. 1, and will run through Thursday, Aug. 4. Camp will be held at the Ava Middle School practice field.
Monday and Tuesday camps will be in the evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday’s camp will run from 8:30-10 a.m. in the morning. Thursday’s camp will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the evening.
The camp will emphasize fundamental football skills, as well as an introduction to the basic offensive and defensive concepts that will be used during the season. The camp will be a non-contact camp. Athletes who attend should wear T-shirts and shorts; football cleats are optional.
Athletes will have the opportunity to begin checking out football equipment on Friday, Aug. 5. Students who will be in the 8th grade this year are asked to report to receive gear between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Students who will be entering the 7th grade this year are asked to come in sometime between 9:30-11 a.m. for their gear.
Students who are interested in playing football should be reminded that they must have a physical exam completed before they are allowed to participate in practice. Football practice begins on Monday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.
