Russell Verl Turner, 93 years, 7 months, and 8 days old, passed to heaven on April 24, 2016 at Gainesville Healthcare Center.
Russell was born Sept. 16, 1922 in Squires, Mo., to Earl and Ica (Wilkinson) Turner.
Russell was employed as a farmer. He liked to go hunting, fishing, and gardening and enjoyed working on his farm.
Russell and Therma (Johnson) Turner were united in marriage on Dec. 30, 1944, in Mountain Home, Ark., and to this union two children were born.
Russell was preceded by his parents; wife, Therma Turner; one grandson Brandon Turner; a sister Reba Herrell; and a son-in-law Darrell Jones.
Russell is survived by a daughter, Ruby Jones, of Theodosia, Mo.; a son, Denzill Turner and wife Debbie, of Theodosia; one sister, Louise Chandler, of Squires, Mo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many neices and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Russell will be Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, April 27 from 6-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating is Pastor Tom Hodges. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice of charity.
