The 8th annual TriCounty Youth Horse Show will take place this weekend on Saturday, Aug. 22, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Ava Saddle Club, located west of Ava on Hwy. 14. Spectators are encouraged to attend the event, as admission is free and open to the public.
According to organizers, interest in the horse show continues to grow and exceed expectations, as the number of youth participants has continued to increase each year.
The entry fee is $3 per class, with payback based on number of entries. Entries are limited to eligible riders ages 18 and younger.
The first ten winners will receive ribbons, with the first five earning a cash prize. However, classes may be combined if entry levels are low.
Proper riding attire, boots, and proof of a negative Coggins test are required. No stallions allowed.
In case of inclement weather, a rain date is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29.
The youth show is sponsored by J&S Foxtrotters, Douglas County Fox Trotting Horse Breeders Assn., Berry Farms, Hamby Farms, Fitzpatrick Stables, Taney County Riding Club, Sprague Thorough-breds, Britton Farms and GJ Ranch.
