T.O.P.S. was called to order on June 16, with six members present and a total loss of 1.4 pounds. The high loser was Boni. Well done, girl!
Margaret L. gave the lesson on an article in the T.O.P.S. News titled “All in the Family,” about relatives who joined T.O.P.S. together and supported each other on their weight loss journey. Sisters Doris and Jean from Maryland each lost over 70 pounds. They walk together (they call themselves “cane” buddies), line dance, tend gardens and mow the grass. They walk every day. Advice: Just love each other and yourself, stay focused, attend meetings.
Another set of sisters, Christina and Melissa from California, lost 114 pounds and 113 pounds respectively. Melissa graduated from culinary school, specializing in French cuisine! She’s reworked a lot of the recipes to make them healthier. On bad days, they pull out their “before” pictures and say, “Look at you at 300 pounds.” With loving humor, they cheer each other on. Advice: Do it now, don’t wait until Monday!
Alvin and Walker, father and son from Maryland, have lost 163 and 107 pounds respectively. They walk six miles a day, have cut down on salt and drink lots of water. Advice: A diet is temporary, but a lifestyle change is forever!
