Ava Saddle Club

Our Fun Show Saddle Series has started! Our first show was held on May 9th with a good turn out despite the weather forecast. We made it through all the classes just before the storms. We had contestants from pee-wee age all the way to adult. And we will be awarding trophy saddles at the end of the series to the high-point winners in each of the age groups along with prizes through 5th place. Contestants in high-point position so far in each division are:

Pee-Wee—Sami Jo Walker/Dolly-80 pts., 10-14—Jess Stafford/Q-Ball-62 pts., 15-19—Kelsey Dietz/Lacy-77 pts., Adult—Kendra Brittan/Chrome-76 pts.

Our next Fun Show will be held June 14th. This is on a Sunday and sign-up time will start a little later than usual. Also please remember the dress code. Check out our Facebook page, Ava Saddle Club News and Events, for a show bill with more information.

The Missouri Family Rodeo was a big success again this year. We love having the MFRA folks put on rodeos here. They are good, clean, family entertainment. We appreciate all the Saddle Club members who helped with setting up the panels, working on the pens, mowing, working the gates, donating pies or chili, working in the cook shack and with clean up. Your help is what makes these events a success!

We will once again be hosting a Versatility Ranch Horse show for the Sho-Me Horse Show Association on June 20th. Classes include Ranch Cutting, Working Cow, Reining, Ranch Pleasure and Trail. There are divisions for Open, Amateur, Novice, Gaited, Youth 14-18, Youth 13-under and Youth Gaited 18-under. Anyone can compete at these shows and you do not have to pre-enter or enter every class, but if you want to go for year-end high-point awards you must be a member of SMHSA. There is pay-back in all classes at each show though. For more information you can go to their Facebook page at Sho-Me Horse Show Association, or their website at: www.showmehorseshowassociation.com, or call Donna at 840-8407.
