CofC Business Appreciation Luncheon Next Tuesday

SMALL BUSINESS WEEK PROCLAIMED–Mayor David Norman hands a copy of the signed proclamation to Judy Shields, executive director of the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce, designating May 4-8 as Small Business Week in Ava. The Chamber's annual Business Appreciation Cookout will be held next Tuesday on the square.

All Ava businesses are invited to come to the square next Tuesday, from 12 to 1 p.m., for the annual Business Appreciation Luncheon. The Chamber will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs, along with sides, as their way of saying “Thank you” to the Ava business community.
This annual Chamber event follows National Small Business Week which was proclaimed in Ava May 4-8 by Ava Mayor David Norman.
Since 1963 the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
The proclamation signed by the mayor last week says, in part, “The City of Ava supports small business owners and understands how important they are to the city as well as the lifeblood of our economy.”
The document also states, “Small businesses represent half of our country’s workforce creating nearly two out of every three new American jobs…”
