Ava Lions 5K Run, Walk For Sight Will Be Held May 9th

The Ava Lions Club 6th annual 5K Run and one-mile Walk for Sight will be held this Saturday morning, May 9.
The race will begin and end at Cross Point Church on Highway Y, just west of Highway 5.
The run will begin at 9 a.m. and again this year will be electronically timed by Ozark Racing Systems, which has also verified the course for accuracy.
Participation and community support have been tremendous in the previous five events and the Lions are anticipating another banner year with walkers and runners ranging in age from kindergarten to senior citizens.
Medals will be awarded to the first three places in each category and some of the faster runners will compete for some nice prizes as well as a medal.
These prizes will be awarded to the overall female and male winners and also prizes will be awarded to the fastest female and male runners in the over-40 age group.
Tickets will again be provided to each participant for a drawing to be held at the completion of the race. Many nice prizes will be awarded including Branson show tickets and local merchant coupons.
Each person registered will also receive a backpack filled with more free coupons and “goodies” as well as those who pre-registered will receive a “tech” shirt.
The funds raised by this event will support Lions projects including providing eyeglasses for needy students, scholarships for graduating seniors, and some local charities and organizations.
Race day registration will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at Cross Point Church. The race will begin promptly at 9 a.m. with the award ceremony around 10 a.m. Coach Larry Silvey will again be the master of ceremonies for the awards portion of the morning.
